Creative musicianship for boys

South Notts Nova Cantores provides a structured pathway for boys aged 10–18 to grow as confident, creative musicians. Our programme combines high‑quality vocal training, specialist support for changing voices, and weekly musicianship development including theory, composition, and creative projects. Alongside this, boys work towards joining our advanced competition choir, gaining experience in disciplined rehearsal, performance skills, and collaborative music‑making. Every member receives clear, guided progression designed to build strong singers, thoughtful musicians, and committed young performers.

Cambiata choir for emerging voices

Boys will have a rehearsal each week in Notts School term time. Each week we will learn how to use our voices in a healthy way and develop our singing skills through warm-ups and appropriate music choices. Our repertoire will be selected with the emerging voice in mind, using cambiata specific arrangements.

RSCM Voice for life programme

This is taken from the RSCM website:

“The Voice for Life® training scheme provides a framework for choral singers to develop their vocal skills, their musical understanding and their knowledge of repertoire. Once a singer has completed the necessary training for that level, reached the targets and finished their workbook, they can be awarded their RSCM Voice for Life medal and the appropriately coloured ribbon (for robed choirs) or coloured lapel badge (for non-robed choirs). They then move on to the next level”.

Song writing/composition support

Alongside the choral singing and voice development, we offer lessons in ABRSM Theory and also song-writing and composition classes run by professional singers/songwriters.
