As a Choir, Musicianship, Theory and Composition member, your son will receive singing and musicianship tuition every week. This will enable your son to learn how to use their voice in a healthy way. We use the Royal School of Church Music’s (RSCM) Voice for Life Programme which is a structured vocal and musical training scheme. Although we will not be singing Church Music repertoire, the programme helps singers to develop their voice, learn a little music theory, and understand what it is to sing as a choir.
In addition to this, your son will receive theory lessons every other week for half an hour alongside other members, at the level they are currently level. We will set work to be done and we are able to enter the boys into ABRSM Theory exams when they are ready.
After a week of theory, the following week your son will have a song writing/composition class where he can create his own music, which will be supervised and mentored by established singer/songwriters. We aim to enable budding composers to enter composition competitions as well as hosting open mic nights where they can perform their work.
This service will give your son 9 rehearsals and theory sessions in the Autumn Term and ask that you will purchase the relevant RSCM book. You will be asked to purchase the appropriate theory book when we have ascertained their current level.
All membership levels will enable you to receive discount off our workshop events.
